Using  us

What sort of legal help do I need?

You may need the confidence or comfort of having a solicitor/personal lawyer. You may also need expert legal help now or at some time in your life. Some of the most common issues are to do with your right to stay in the UK, buying a house, your family matters, or making a will. But you might also need help if you are setting up home with your partner, being arrested by the police, being dismissed from work, starting your own business or negotiating a deal.

The law can be complicated or matters can be time consuming so it’s important to get the best advice and help you can. Solicitors are the experts when it comes to the law and how it affects you. For these reasons you are always advised to contact a solicitor; but which solicitor? We will be happy and willing to be your solicitor/personal lawyer.

Why choose us

Finding a list of solicitors can be easy. This can be by using the law society website or by calling the law society on 020 7320 5650. However, as your personal lawyer, we can do more. We become your first emergency contact. Here are just some of the issues you should consider as you consider getting a personal lawyer or instructing a solicitor:

What sort of legal help do I need?

At Victory At Law Solicitors, we offer services in a wide range of legal subjects, although at times due to practical constraint we may only be able to offer few legal subjects. As your personal lawyer, if we cannot help you with all your needs, we will be happy to refer you to another solicitor. Or, if you prefer, we can get the advice of a specialist on your behalf.

How can I be sure Victory @ Law Solicitors are qualified to help me?

All solicitors in private practice must hold a practising certificate issued by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the independent regulator (set up by the Law Society), which sets the rules that all solicitors must follow. This guarantees that the solicitor is qualified to practice and has insurance to protect you if anything goes wrong. If you want to be sure we are qualified, ask to see our certificate or phone the Solicitors Regulation Authority on 0370 606 2555.

Can we visit you?

Yes. Where a solicitor firm is based is obviously an issue of convenience. We can arrange to visit you where you find travelling difficult or where you want to concentrate on carrying on with your business.

Do we do legal aid work?

No. We know that sometimes money is hard to come by. If you are on a low income or receiving benefits, you may be eligible for legal aid. You can find this out by contacting your nearest citizens’ advice bureau or law centre. Where you are eligible for legal aid, we will be happy to refer you to solicitors who do legal aid work.

Do we work on a conditional fee basis?

Yes. For certain types of case, we may be prepared to work on a conditional fee basis. This is more commonly known as a ‘no win, no fee’ arrangement. If you win the case, your fees will usually be paid by the other side. If you lose, you do not have to pay our fees. We may ask you to take out an insurance policy to pay for the other side’s costs if you lose.

Will we be sympathetic?

If you need to see a solicitor about a personal matter, such as a relationship breakdown, you will want to choose someone who makes you feel comfortable. At Victory @ Law Solicitors we are sympathetic and understanding if you are distressed. If you prefer to deal with someone who is the same sex as you, we will arrange that. Always tell us what you want.

What languages do we speak?

If English is not your first language, you should mention this when you contact us. At Victory @ Law Solicitors, we are multi-lingual. However, we can arrange for an interpreter to be present at our meetings.

Making an appointment

We advice all our clients to make an appointment before coming to see us. When making the appointment, our friendly secretary shall advise you on what you need to bring to the meeting with you if any. However, in case of emergency, we will endeavour to see as soon as practicably possible.

Acting for you

As you personal solicitors, we will gradually know all about you and become your best legal companion in times of need. As you remain with us any future legal matters become quicker and easier for us to understand and give you proper advice; thereby saving you cost.

We will from time to time send letters to you advising you matters or reminding you of some important obligations we think you might have forgotten. At Victory @ Law Solicitors, we always provide you with a designated manager, who will be your first contact as we act for.

Our charges

Legal advice, like anything else you buy, costs money, but its value can be enormous. Our charges depend on your current and ongoing instructions. We shall always advise you on this before commencing work. We are often more interested in achieving a successful outcome and making our name in the legal field than charging exorbitant fees. Unlike most solicitors, we often charge fixed fees for a particular instruction giving you peace of mind.

Keeping in touch

Once you have appointed us as your solicitor, we shall consult you at every important stage, to check how you want to proceed with your ongoing instruction. Similarly, you need to tell us about any changes to your personal circumstances, which could affect the ongoing instruction.

Ending your Instructions

Although we feel confident that you will always want to instruct us in all your legal matters, you can anytime you can ask us to stop representing you without giving us any reason. You can ask to collect your file or ask us to post them to you.  You can also use our complaint procedure, which we will give you during your first interview.

In all case, which we complete for you, we shall keep the file and documents in our archives for at least six years giving you ample time to revisit them at your convenience.
